Welcome….

Mentoring students as P.I. of The Watson Laboratory is the single most rewarding aspect of my career. I came to academia down a somewhat unorthodox road. Growing up in small town Southeast Texas, I had direct access to the natural world but no exposure to the culture of higher education. I didn’t know what to expect and, as a first generation college student, dealt with significant challenges as an undergraduate. Because of my own struggles, I understand the struggles of my students and I work hard to help them find success.

My classroom and laboratory are significantly integrated and I am always looking for talented students to do research in the lab, both graduate and undergraduate. I work to provide venues for publication and presentation of research and I maintain a network of professional and academic friends to support the future of my students and the laboratory as a whole. The research in our lab is broad in scope, current, and fun! Anyone interested in being a part of our team should click the “contact” button below.

Again, Thanks for stopping by...
